Travel agency homeworker firm Travel Counsellors has acquired travel technology platform Planisto, along with its development team.

Steve Byrne, CEO of Travel Counsellors, said the company is “delighted” by the acquisition.

“This acquisition perfectly aligns with our vision and passion of building a community of the very best travel entrepreneurs who provide the human touch empowered by state-of-the-art technology to deliver exceptional, bespoke and highly personalized travel experiences for customers,” Byrne said.

In addition to strengthening Travel Counsellors’ talent and tech, he said the acquisition will help accelerate its development roadmap for its digital platform, Phenix, and, in turn, boost the customer booking experience.

Planisto is a cloud-native technology, proprietary platform that allows travel advisors to build and manage itineraries that are personalized for their clientele, which Travel Counsellors believes will complement its existing digital assets.

The deal, the terms of which were not disclosed, follows Travel Counsellors’ November announcement of a £15 million investment meant for tech development, particularly on personalization software through its Phenix platform.

And the acquisition marks Travel Counsellors’ second ever – with its first in March of last year when it acquired Holidaysplease.
